Laundry Room UPDATE

Several months ago, I introduced you to the laundry room in our new house. It’s been a bit of a work in progress {just like EVERYTHING else}. I am still on the hunt for some personality and color – I would love a splashy piece of art and a bright, colorful window treatment. But, that’s just a want.. and we definitely had to cover the needs first.

One of the main things it was lacking was storage. I ordered the cabinets in February, but it took us a couple months to get to them and hang them up. What a difference!

Laundry BeforeAfterNow I have room for cleaning supplies and paper towels, light bulbs, laundry detergent and dryer sheets. I even have extra room in the cabinets!

The other thing that took a little bit of time was the custom hanging rod that I had to have.
We really like the industrial look, and my husband hangs up all of his shirts. Instead of draping them over the dryer door as I’m folding laundry, I really wanted to be able to hang them right away.

Hanging rod
Materials: 1/2″ galvanized pipe, elbows, and flanges. Total cost: Approx $38.

This was the perfect solution to get us the hanging storage we needed. I purchased galvanized pipe and flanges from Lowe’s. We had to clean the pipe and remove stickers. Once it was together, I spray painted everything. I do love the industrial flair it adds to the laundry room.

All of our finishes look great together. I still love all my choices.

So here’s the finished product.

Until I decide it’s not finished….

You know how it is.

What do you think? Do you think I should add more color; or do you prefer it like it is?
