Starting to See The Light at The End

It has been such a CRAZY few months.

I can’t even explain to you the level of insanity we’ve been through..
If you want to hear all about it, you don’t know what you’re asking for.
Let’s just suffice it to say that I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.
So anyhow, after being displaced twice, we are more than ready to see this house finished.
Fortunately for us, we’re almost there.

This means that we’ve been doing our fair share of DIY.
My husband is a true Rockstar. {That’s no mistake, he needs a capital R.}
I’ve always said that I’m the brains behind our projects and he’s the brawn.
That is so true.
Although.. I can’t sell him short. He also adds plenty of “brains” to the mix!

As of today, this is what our house looks like on the outside:

View from the front as you come up our drive

View from the end of the garage.
This is currently my favorite view, because you can actually see all the finishes together and we LOVE it.

View from our side yard.
This is the bedroom “wing” of the house.
I can’t believe I worked with my dad as a kid on so many construction projects and I never once installed any siding.
That all changed this week. I still can’t do it entirely on my own, but I was at least able to contribute a little bit to the progress!

These are the two walls I did most of the siding on.
{I’m not trusted enough to do soffit, fascia, etc., etc. yet.. ;)}
Inside, we’re patiently awaiting the finishing of drywall.
{Haha! I’m not sure “patient” is really how most would describe me recently.}
After the drywall is finished, it’s GO time for the kitchen installation, laying the floors, and installing all the molding.

Here are the latest interior views:

Basement steps leading upstairs.
They actually put drywall here, too, but I didn’t have a picture with that.

Our kitchen, and one of the rooms I’m most excited to see finished.

 I am not ready to jinx anything, because we are way too anxious to get into this house.. BUT..
We should be moving in sometime in September.
Hopefully it will be the middle of the month, but again, let’s just wait and see.
Happy Designing! -Cherie
