 The Dream

Lately, I have been unable to think of anything but the day when I will be able to open my own business.

It has been a dream of mine FOREVER.  Those who know me best know that I would be happiest to be my own boss, able to create my own hours, and still make it to those important family events.   Owning my own design business is a high priority to me.  I am working on my business concept, trying to find a location, and creating a plan of how to make this amazing dream come true.  It’s hard not to get excited about the future when I start the planning process.  I know that this is not going to happen overnight, and I know that it’s going to take time.  However, I know that Jeb and I both want this, and we are both business-minded.  With him by my side, I really do feel like we can conquer the world.

A Creative Jump-Start

Instead of coffee, most anything related to design is my ‘caffeine.’
The past several mornings, the equivalent of a shot of espresso for me has been time spent on Houzz.com, ordering fabrics from Lee Industries, and playing around with this amazing FREE design tool I found online.  Thanks to Homestyler, I have been having a great time virtually planning my showroom!!

In case you haven’t figured it out, I am crazy, wildly, passionate about design.
I pour my heart into my designs.  I love the psychology of it; the challenge. You have to get inside your client’s head, help them discover what they want, and then bring those dreams to life.
Sometimes I can’t believe it.  People respect my opinions so much so that they will let me TELL THEM what to do in their house.  I don’t live there, and I definitely believe that their opinions are more important than anything I think or say.  I feel so inadequate sometimes, and I’m usually just hoping that I don’t mess it up.  It’s a pretty big responsibility, but it’s awesome to know that you can truly make a difference in someone’s life.
I hope that in my future, I am holding a set of keys to my own Design Center.
For now, I am so thankful for the opportunity to keep doing my thing!

By the way, I think you’ll be seeing a lot more color in my posts.  With all of the dreary weather we’ve been having, I think we could use an infusion of color!!

I am a Mom and self-employed Interior Designer. Our family lives in a small town in north-central Pennsylvania where everybody knows everybody. I blog for fun to keep my friends and clients informed of what's going on in the design and decorating world, to share my designs, and to show what we're working on in our own home.
